About Hope Talbot Waller
I am a textile artist and printmaker. I work mainly with vintage and secondhand fabrics, and love to repurpose old favourite clothes and home textiles into something new. I am particularly drawn to velvet, anything with movement and light and unpredictability. My work is improvisational; I like sorting through a pile of fabric scraps, the smaller the better (I simply cannot throw anything away!), layering and cutting and sewing until it feels right. I studied fine art at Winchester School of Art, and spend a lot of time thinking about craft and queerness.
I’m currently working on a collection of quilts about the UK’s beautiful and wild canal network. I toured the most underused parts of the canals while completing the IWA Silver Propeller Challenge, which I wrote about in a series of monthly features for Waterways World.
I am an Aurifil Artisan for 2026.
